Infrared Neural Stimulation

The primary goal of this project is to develop a novel optical implantable device which utilizes infrared neural stimulation techniques (Wells et al., 2005). These devices provide highly spatially specific neural stimulation without the need for genetic modification. Taken together, these devices may better treat a wide variety of neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions with fewer side effects than "gold standard" stimulation devices.
